What is your price today?

Because the price of oil can fluctuate daily, it’s best to give us a call at 401-722-0080 so you can be sure to get the most accurate quote possible.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We offer a 10 cent per gallon prompt pay discount when the oil is paid for within 10 days of delivery. We also offer a 20 cent per gallon discount when the total year’s fuel usage is paid for in advance; this is called a pre-buy purchase. A 5 cent per gallon senior citizen discount is also available.

Why is it that a discount oil dealer’s price is less than your price?

Discount oil dealers will have a lower price per gallon when the weather is warm and they are looking to keep the trucks busy, but once the cold arrives and they become busy (If you can get them to show up) quite often their price will be higher!   And if you consider all the other services needed to keep your house warm, then they are never less! Once the delivery is made, the discount company will not provide the other services that people want.  With them, you have to monitor your own fuel usage, call in advance for a delivery and make special arrangements to make a payment. With us you get automatic deliveries, the choice to cap your oil price for the upcoming heating season, multiple payment options, service contracts and access to emergency 24/7 burner service.

How does your Price Cap Plan work?

We purchase insurance that will allow you to pay no more than the price cap being offered.  If the daily price is less than the price cap, then you would pay the lower price.  If the daily price is higher than the price cap then your price would be the price cap amount.

What happens when my Price Cap Plan ends?

Near the end of your price cap plan we will send you a letter reminding you that it will be ending and to contact the office for the new rates.  If we do not hear from you, your account will remain on automatic delivery and all future deliveries will be at our daily rate.

What is the Price Cap Plan today?

Due to fluctuations in wholesale prices, you need to call our office at 401-722-0080 to get the current price cap rate.

Is there a fee for the Price Cap Plan?

Yes. If you want to cap your oil price for the upcoming heating season then we will charge you a fee. We in turn use this money to purchase the necessary insurance to protect your fuel price. In most cases, the insurance costs us more than the fee that we charge, so we are in essence subsidizing the cost of the insurance.  As with the price cap, the fee for the cap will vary.  Please call the office for the current rate.

How does Pre-Buy work?

We estimate the amount of gallons you would use for the heating season. We multiply that number times an estimated cost of what oil may be at throughout the season to get a monetary value. You send us that amount which becomes your pre-buy credit balance with us. Each delivery you receive while you have a pre-buy credit will be 20 cents less than the daily price. Any unused pre-buy credit at the end of the season will be returned to you.

Can we get a cap on the Pre-Buy program as well?

Yes, Price Cap Protection is available with the pre-buy program.

How does your budget work?

Our budgets end in June. Therefore, a 12 month budget begins in July and a 11 month budget in August. We estimate how much you might spend for heat and/ or hot water in that year and divide accordingly. For example: $1800 annual heating bill spread over 12 months = $150 per month. Spread over 11 months = $163 per month. Any credit balance at the end of the season will be returned to you and any outstanding balance at the end of the season must be paid to us. We do not typically start budgets after October of any year.

How does your service and service plans work?

All of our oil customers have 24-hour emergency service available to them regardless of whether they have a service contract or not. How you will be billed for that service, if it is needed, is based on what type of service contract you have.  Again, we do not require you to have a service contract but because they are such a good value most of our customers do.

You have two service plans, which one is right for me?

The Service Plus plan is best suited for those people with a warm air system and people with a steam system. People with a forced hot water system should consider the expanded coverage offered with our Service Max Plan. This plan offers expanded protection on most of the water items associated with this type of system. The Service Max plan also offers a discount on an oil tank installation if needed.

When does my service contract renew?

Your service contract automatically renews and will be invoiced on its anniversary date.

Do I have to be on Automatic delivery?

Most of our customers are on our automatic delivery system. Should a customer want to go on “will call” and call for their deliveries; they can, but they can not have their equipment protected under a service contract or participate in any price cap programs.

How do your prices compare with national chains?

As a locally owned company, we do not just deliver heating oil to our “customers”; we deliver heating oil to our neighbors and friends.  We will not offer a new customer a very attractive, short term initial price while at the same time severely overcharging its long term existing customers.  With that being said, our prices will always be lower than the national chains offer to their existing customers.

Before signing with one of these companies, you should consider that the largest full service oil dealer in RI may quote you a lower initial price for oil.  This is designed to make you to sign a long term, legally binding contract, with up to a $600 early termination fee, that will cost you more money in the long term.  Visit this site to view comments from some of their less than satisfied customers:

When is my next delivery? How do you know that?

We project when to deliver using the Degree Day System.  Basically, the system works by assigning every house with an individual k-factor (your home’s unique demand). We track and accumulate the coldness during the year and deliver the ideal amount of oil to your tank.  For most homes, that would be 180 gallons (275 tanks). The colder it is outside, the more often we will show up.

Can I keep my deliveries small?   Our normal projected delivery is 180 gallons for a 275 gallon tank. If you request, we can adjust your deliveries to be smaller.
